The pictures were taken about 10 sec apart and are in order. The object was bright orange and smaller than a small domestic aircraft at 500 ft. It travelled slower than an aircraft would but faster than space junk. It was above the cloud base but didn't shine through as it passed above the cloud. The object rose in the North West and set in the South East. When I first saw it it had an elevation of about 30 degrees in the North West. I initially thought it was the landing lights of an aircraft. I realised something was wrong because it was flying contrary to the normal clockwise aircraft circuits and had no navigation lights, that is, it was heading towards us and it was an odd bright orange colour, the colour was flecked with sparks of red. It reached an elevation of about 70 degrees and travelled in a straight line with what I thought were minute jerky movements. I called my daughter Erin to look and she took some pictures but because she used a flash they didn't turn out as well. It passed behind a cloud at about 50 deg elevation and we couldn't see it again.
At the time the object appeared solid, but looking at the pictures it seems that there is up to four or possibly five glowing white spheres rotating in a gas. It was a shock to find that it was far from solid, I expected to see an orange dot like a star. Apart from that I have absolutely no idea what it was. It is obviously changing shape very fast as the photos are close together in time. Whatever it was, ball lightning, natural energy phenomenon, inter-dimensional space craft or swamp gas, it was sure damn cool to watch, that's for sure!
All I have done to the images is enlarge them, alter the contrast and sharpen them in Photoshop.
